wow.. it has been some time i blogged and for a moment i can’t even remember  my login username or password. well thanks to my bro’s engagement which took half of my left brain, 80% energy, millions of critics and loads of migraine resulting from it. it took me almost to weeks to recover from the anxiety. it’s not much of the engagement gift preparation works, but more of the stress due to ‘last minute’ works plus travelling first time long distance with my twins and last not least encountering various bizarre human behaviour (which not new in indian community)!

as some may know and FYI for those don’t know, when indians get engaged it must come with groom side gift for his future fiance. this gift traditional brought to the bride’s house by a troop of frens and relative from the groom’s place. it’s all depending the size of your wallet to determine the scale of your gift and celebration. the gift is carried using trays traditionally and usually comes in extreme simple tray decoration style for ages. but times are changing, bollywood influences trails, fashion magazine compels these days for better presentation for gifts. so we got to put our thinking cap on. my bro n SIL leave the ideas on my hands, which i dunno whether that was a good decision they have made.

Commonly the Malays usually do these fancy gift presentation for engagement which the original culture was originated from the Indians. but they have evolved in great magnitude. current trend they opt are bird cages, treasure box, silver craved engraved box or tray and the classic old styled ruffled ribbon still in for some. i refused to opt any of them as i again label them as common and in market style. these stuff are so ready made and easily can be purchased affordably at Nilai 3, Seremban. U go there, u throw a stone , u will hit into ready made tray gift shops.

so giving my left side brain some work, i came up with some ideas, which i finally decided on the indian doll tray which her dress flows out and cover the tray surface, which the gift the presented unto it. i was truly inspired by the the indian puppet doll called kathputli originated from rajasthan, india. they are actually craved from mango tree stick and then painted and decorated with gowns, saree, etc for puppet shows. i don’t know to carve, so as an alternative i used paper clay with armature finished with arcrylic painting. the dress was a saree material which was hand sewn in lengha style aka. bollywood. so the finish product is here which is truly HANDMADE by meeeeeeeee. BUT BUT i have upload only 2 picture of the 9 tray we carried. bare with me as the camera nor photograper used are so not profressional. plus the lighting we got was bad enough  and became camera’s nightmare! i was rushing like mad so i left the photo to be taken by others. but i promise that i will upload the professional shots when my SIL pass it to me! so enjoy the preview :D
